About Vaccinations
Vaccines protect children against serious diseases such as measles, whooping cough, polio, pneumonia, rotavirus diarrhoea, typhoid and hepatitis. Following the recommended schedule gives protection at the age children are most at risk.

When to bring your child
- At birth, 6, 10 and 14 weeks, then 6, 7, 9, 12, 15, 16–18 and 18–19 months
- Booster doses at 4–6 years and 10 years
- HPV vaccine from 9 years
- Yearly flu vaccine for children under 5
- Missed doses — catch-up is usually possible
What to expect

Common questions
Can my child be vaccinated with a mild cold?
A mild cold without high fever is usually not a reason to delay. The doctor will check your child before every vaccine.
What if we missed a dose?
Most missed doses can be caught up without restarting the series. Bring the vaccination card and the doctor will plan the catch-up.
What are common side effects?
Mild fever, fussiness and soreness at the injection site for a day or two are common. Ask the doctor which fever medicine and dose to use.
