Vaccination questions parents ask
What is the difference between government and private vaccines?
Government health centres give the vaccines in India's Universal Immunization Programme free of cost — BCG, OPV, hepatitis B, pentavalent, rotavirus, PCV, fIPV, measles-rubella (MR), DPT boosters and Td, plus JE in districts where it is common. The IAP schedule followed by private pediatricians covers the same diseases and adds vaccines such as influenza, typhoid conjugate, hepatitis A, chickenpox (varicella) and MMR, and may use combination vaccines that mean fewer injections. Both protect well — the most important thing is not to miss doses.
How much do baby vaccines cost?
Vaccines in the government programme are free at government centres. At a private hospital the cost varies by vaccine and brand — please ask us for current prices before your visit, and we will explain the options.
How does the vaccination calculator work?
Enter your child's date of birth and the calculator lists every routine vaccine from the IAP 2025 schedule with its due date — what is due now, what is overdue and what comes next. It is a reminder only; the doctor confirms the plan at each visit.
My baby missed a vaccine. Do we need to start again?
Usually not. Most missed doses can simply be caught up without restarting the series. Bring your baby's vaccination card and the doctor will plan the catch-up doses.
Can my baby be vaccinated with a mild cold?
A mild cold without high fever is usually not a reason to delay vaccines. The doctor will check your baby on the day and decide.
